Operations Manager

Under the direction of the CEO/ Administrator or Dir of Plant Operation, the Operation Manager will plan, organize, supervise, coordinate and control the activities of the plant operations, to maintaining the physical structures, H.V.A.C., mechanical, electrical systems, utilities and grounds of the facility in an operative and safe working condition.  In addition, he or she shall have responsibility for the supervision and direction of the Engineering department and staff. 



Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Maintains an inventory of parts and supplies to maximize the operational readiness of the hospital building systems and equipment.   
  • Records and/or reviews gauge readings.
  • Schedules and supervises maintenance repair work, alterations, remodeling, minor construction, and the checkout, installation and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment and building systems.
  • Directs mechanics, painters, and other designated staff.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge and compliance with various federal and state laws and JCAHO standards.
  • Responsible for the selection and coordination of service contractors.
  • Acts as a liaison between the hospital and regulatory Officials (State Fire Marshall, OSHPD, Police, Fire, Department of Health, and utility companies).
  • Coordinates the repair of equipment or recommends replacement of or additions to equipment or physical plant as necessary.
  • Administers/implements preventative maintenance program to ensure uninterrupted operation of the physical plant.
  • Reviews and recommends approval of plans for construction.
  • Performs weekly/monthly preventative maintenance of fire alarm system, according to the National Fire Prevention Association criteria.
  • Monitors performance regarding actual or potential risk in Safety, Security, Hazardous Material & Waste, Emergency Preparedness, Life Safety, Medical Equipment and Utilities.
  • Maintains environmental controls to meet infection control standards within the hospital.


Qualifications

Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical courses/training preferred in both engineering and environmental services.

Minimum Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in management and supervision of engineering, maintenance, and environmental services and staff, including, but not limited to installation and maintenance of equipment, construction, utilities and buildings.  Previous experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.  Knowledge  of cleaning solutions, equipment and techniques.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Steam Engineer 500 Hp license and valid driver's license required.
