Charge RN - Med/Surg

The Charge RN provides professional nursing care and oversight of co-workers and contract labor within the Med Surg. Coordinates care planning and implementation with other disciplines, for the adolescent, adult and older adult (geriatric) patient.

 

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Monitors and Maintains Fiscal Responsibility and Productivity of Unit / Department.
  • Demonstrates Expertise in Management of and participation in Clinical Practice.
  • Demonstrates skill in Human Resource Management.
  • Demonstrates Leadership; Acts as Role Model for Professional Conduct.
  • Assists Nursing Director in ensuring unit compliance with accreditation body requirements, BMC standards, and policies and procedures.  


Qualifications

Minimum Education:  Graduate of an Accredited Professional School of Nursing. Bachelor of Science (BSN) preferred.

Minimum Experience:  Two (2) or more years recent nursing clinical experience on a Med Surg Unit in an Acute Hospital setting. Three (3) months experience as a Charge RN (relief) or One (1) year recent Charge RN experience.

Req. Certification/Licensure:    Current California RN Licensure. Current American Heart Association (BLS) and (ACLS) Certification. MAB or equivalent (within first six months of employment);AACN Medical / Surgical Certification preferred within 5 years in Charge Nurse role.
