RN - Pre-Op PACU Nurse

The Preoperative PACU Nurse is responsible for the safety during their perioperative stay and is responsible for the delivery of individualized nursing care to patients prior to surgical or procedural intervention. 

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Provides assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation activities for patients receiving OR treatment regimens. Incorporating current clinical knowledge with established nursing practice, he/she performs nursing interventions utilizing the nursing process, while working with adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. 
  • The Pre-Op Holding Nurse continuously evaluates the patient's response to nursing interventions and modifies the nursing care plan to address the needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.        
  • Collaborates with other disciplines to revise the patient care plan according to the changing needs of the patient and taking into account age related factors for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.    
  • Contributes to performance appraisal by providing data in the assessment of clinical performance.    
  • Participates in the evaluation of models of patient care and procedure cards.


Minimum Education: Graduate of an Accredited Professional School of Nursing. Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. 

Minimum Experience: Minimum of six (6) months current experience as a Registered Nurse for Ambulatory Surgery, Medical / Surgical Unit or Surgery. Current knowledge and experience work with Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patient Current knowledge and experience in the Perioperative Care of the Surgical Patient.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Current California RN license. American Heart Association (BCLS), (ACLS) Certification.
