Rehabilitation Therapist Aide

The Rehabilitation Therapist Aide assists the Rehabilitation Therapist in assessing each patient's functional status. The Aide will be resposible for Planning and implementing therapeutic activities to improve each patient's social leisure, healthy coping, reality orientation and discharge planning needs. The Aide will assist in facilitating the improvement of each patient's quality of life. 



Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Ability to asses patient functional skills. 
  • Sets functional therapeutic goals. Documentation skills demonstrate ability to express goals./progress concretely. 
  • Structures therapeutic activities taking in consideration patient's cognitive and physical limitations with discharge planning needs. 
  • Ability to write and discuss therapeutic interventions during multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings. 
  • Knowledge of recreation equipment available for interventions (i.e. klin, VCR, weight room, basketball court, and pool).
  • Active participation in treatment team meetings. 
  • Maintains inventory in department and requests supplies when necessary; keeps supplies organized. 
  • Identifies new admissions and initiates rehab assessment process. 
  • Ensures overall safety of patients during rehabilitation activities.
  • Makes sure all unsafe objects are properly accounted foe and stored. 
  • Presents self in a professional manner when dealing with patients family/friends or when out or hospital on department business. 


Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.  

Minimum Experience: One (1) year experience in recreational therapy in a psychiatric and/or acute care hospital setting. And/or an AA degree with therapy certification. And/or two (2) years concentrated study in related field. 

Req. Certification/Licensure:  Current CPR, Fire Card, PART or MAB Certificate, and Community Water Safety Certificate Required.
