The Project Manager performs project management/oversight for all OSHPD and non-OSHPD projects, remodels, renovations, beautifications, installations, and retrofits to the hospital buildings, equipment, departments, and utility distribution systems. The Project Manager facilitates project feasibility design and analysis, project budgeting, architectural design, oversight of various design professionals, furnishing vendors, contractors and other consultants who may be engaged to perform renovations or remodels to the hospitals. This position will be involved with clinical and administrative individuals to assess updated work flow design and department aesthetics.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • The Project Manager is responsible for reporting project progress to the Assistant Administrator of Support Services and the Vice President of Facilities Development.
  • Assists with the identification, cataloging and maintenance of all blueprints and project documentation.
  • Provide supervision support for construction progress and contractors.
  • Provide design assistance in support of the construction supervision staff.
  • Facilitates project feasibility analysis, architectural designs and project budgeting.
  • Assures program management and oversight of major construction deferred maintenance and in-house build to suit projects.
  • Meets with department managers and administration to develop space requirements and work flow in renovated space.
  • Develop and Prepares documentation which is organized, accurate and clear (e.g. request for proposals, change orders, field authorizations, purchase orders and similar documents essential to completing projects). 
  • Facilitates the selection process and contract negotiations for consultants, contractors and vendors. 
  • Reviews the construction progress reports and advises the Assistant Administrator of Support Services and the VP Facilities Development of deviations from approved construction plans.
  • Coordinates technical matters among the construction staff and vendors, reviews their comments and make recommendations to resolve issues.
  • Arranges for the preparation and submission of contract deliverables involving construction issues.
  • Review design changes with the Assistant Administrator of Support Services prior to approval of shop drawings.
  • Coordinate with the Assistant Administrator of Support Services the activities of the renovations and remodels of the physical plant structures.
  • Develop the appropriate Interim Life Safety and Infection Control Measures. Oversees the monitoring of renovation and remodel projects for compliance.


Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Project Management and/or Architecture preferred or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Minimum Experience: The candidate should posses a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in California (OSHPD) healthcare construction, and must poses strong mechanical and technical background in facilities management. Excellent communication, organizational and prioritization skills. Strong computer and word processing skills required.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Valid drivers license.
